“Suburb Glory”, 2024

Suburb Glory is an immersive installation comprising three polyester art pieces, video, sound, and a publication. The installation highlights and celebrates the richness of the suburb of Onex-Cité in Switzerland—a place often underrepresented in the international image of Switzerland as a land of plenty.

The project creates a unique space, a pedestal for this vibrant culture, far from being a “low culture.” From the textile pieces—woven, tufted, and quilted with old football jerseys—to the video showcasing the people from my neighborhood, the publication compiling rap punchlines, and the sound pieces immersing visitors in the soundscape of Onex, every element contributes to this tribute.

This work is a love letter to my neighborhood and to all the suburbs that share its spirit.
